Author Guidelines
1. Requirements for the content of the publication.
Articles should present original unpublished results of research in the field of law enforcement.
Comments on legislation, lectures, reviews of publications and scientific activities concerning law enforcement issues are accepted for publication in exceptional cases, according to the decision of the Editorial Board.
The main topic of the article should not be published in other publications. Previously published results of studies of the greatest importance may be published in exceptional cases, according to the decision of the Editorial Board (with the obligatory indication of the source of the initial publication).
If the article is prepared by a team of authors, it should include only those authors who have made a significant contribution to this study. Authors must comply with requirements of the scientific publications ethics (COPE) and guarantee the authenticity and correctness of the data.
2. Requirements for the submitting papers.
Priority article submission form: by filling in the form on the journal's website https://enforcement.omsu.ru. Articles and other materials for publication can also be sent by e-mail: omsk.ler@gmail.com, or sent by mail to the address of Editorial Board: Prof. A.N. Kostyukov, Dostoevsky Omsk State University, 6, ul. Frunze, Omsk, 644099, Russia.
The author is required to submit:
1) the abstract in English (about 3 thousand letters) prepared by a professional translator or by native English speaker. The abstract should include the subject of research, the purpose of the article (scientific hypothesis), a description of the methods and methodology of research, information about the main scientific results, conclusions about the achievement of the research goal. The abstract in Russian is not published. The abstract is provided with the text of the article in the same file.
2) the text of the article in Russian or English. The article must be necessarily structured, each section of the article must be named. The mandatory introduction should reflect the problem, its relevance, a brief review of the scientific literature published on this topic. Conclusions about the resolution of the scientific problem should be also provided. It is necessary to mention at least 25 sources, written by named author, in the original scientific article; and at least 50-80 sources in the scientific review. From 5 up to 8 sources must be indexed in Web of Science or Scopus. Self-citation of the author is allowed no more than 20% of the number of sources in the list.
The volume of the article should be at least 30 thousand letters and no more than 40 thousand letters with spaces, including information about the author, abstract, list of references, footnotes, tables and figures.
Minor deviations from the above rules are allowed by the decision of the editorial board.
3. Requirements for layout of the article.
1) The article title, author’s name and surname as well as his affiliation should be in uppercase letters in the center. Then the abstract, then key words (6-8 words).
2) The text of the article begins on the same page. Information about the support of the research by the grant is placed in a footnote attached to the title of the article. The article must be necessarily structured, each section of the article must be named.
3) At the end of the article the following information about the author should be provided: name and surname, academic degree, academic title, honorary titles (if applicable), position and place of work, full work address (with postal code), contact phone number, E-mail, SPIN RSCI, or ORCID, or ResearcherID (if applicable).
4) Tables are placed after the first mention in the text of article. Numbering of tables and figures end-to-end on the article.
5) Figures are placed after the first mention of them in the text and can be performed as follows:
- in the built-in graphics editor MS Word;
- in graphic editors (Adobe Photoshop, CorelDraw, etc.);
- in the vector graphics editor Microsoft Visio, etc..
4. Requirements for the references.
- A list of references should be placed at the end of the article. The references are being included in the list in the order of mentioning the cited publication in the text of the article. Each cited publication has only one serial number in the list of references. Any cited publication is given in list of references only once, it is not allowed to specify: "See:", "Cited by: "Ibid” etc. - in the list of references. If the source has DOI, it’s indication is obligatory.
- The text should be referred to as follows: the number in square brackets in the order of mentioning the source in the text of the article with pages: [1, p. 34], (see for example: [2, p.56]), (cited by: [6, p. 88]), in the case of references to several publications: [1, p. 55; 2, p. 346; 3, p. 78]. If you mean a reference to the work as a whole, it is permissible not to specify the page in the text. The list of references for articles must include the first and last pages in the journal or in the collection of papers, for monographs total number of pages must be indicated
- Links to legislation (including laws, Constitution etc.), archival documents, manuscripts, statistical data, publications from the Internet, newspapers, other sources without attribution, various notes of the author, etc. are issued in the ordinary page references and are not included in the list of references. When making links to the newspaper, you must specify the year, day and month of its release.
- If list of references is prepared in Russian it is necessary to prepare it’s English version.
It is recommended to use the lists of references from the journal’s articles as an example (available at: enforcement.omsu.ru).
5. Procedure and conditions of publication.
Publication in “Law Enforcement Review” is free of charge for all the authors. The journal doesn't have any Article processing charges. The journal doesn't have any Article submission charges. The royalties to authors will not be paid.
Articles are registered by the Editorial Board. The degree of its compliance with the subject of the journal is determined after registration of the received manuscript. The manuscript that does not correspond to the subject or Authors’ Guideline is rejected with the notice of the author. The accepted manuscript is sent for anonymous peer review in accordance with the Peer-Review Policy.
The date of acceptance of the article in the journal is the day of receipt of the text of the article by Editorial Board (revised text - in case of its revision in accordance with the comments of reviewers).
The authors undertake to respond to the reviewers ' comments and make proposed changes based on these comments. In disputable cases, including conflicts of interest, they can apply to the Editorial Board with reasoned objections or reject the article.
The author of the article is obliged to observe the international principles of scientific publication ethics (COPE Code of conduct guidelines). The Editorial Board may check the text of the article using the "anti-plagiarism" software. In case of violation of the requirements of publication ethics, the article published in the journal, can be retracted on the initiative of the Editorial Board or of the author.
